PCPO IS HIRING!

POSITION: INSURANCE COORDINATOR

The PCPO Insurance Coordinator is the administrator of the PCPO group insurance policies. S/he must have a thorough understanding of cooperative preschools and how they operate. In addition, bookkeeping experience and/or a background in accounting or financial operations is needed.

S/he should relate well to people, be resourceful, and be capable of self-direction. With the exception of required meetings, the Insurance Coordinator will work from a home office with internet access. A computer and Smart Phone are needed; PCPO may be able to assist with necessary technology. Transportation for Portland area meetings is necessary. Mileage will be reimbursed.

The Insurance Coordinator works closely with other PCPO employees and PCPO Board volunteers to ensure all tasks necessary for providing exceptional member services are completed in a timely manner.

START DATE:

The start date is negotiable, with a goal of starting sometime in October 2018.

HOURS:  

The first contract will be from the starting date through June 30for an average of 18 to 20 hours per week. The workload varies from month to month; it is typically busiest Aug - Nov and Jan - March.

COMPENSATION:

Based on qualifications and experience, with an expected range of $20 to $23/hour. There are no medical or retirement benefits.

QUALIFICATIONS: (Please see full job description below for more details.)

  • Experience with cooperative preschools

  • Experience with accounting or bookkeeping practices

  • Be familiar with general/basic insurance terminology and practices. Insurance experience a plus

  • General office and computer skills; must be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel and have familiarity with Google

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills - ability to work independently from a home office

  • Meticulous accuracy with numbers and proofreading

  • Ability to communicate in a timely and responsible manner with member schools, PCPO staff/volunteers, and the insurance agency by phone and email

  • Attend daytime and evening meetings at various locations in the Portland Metro area

  • Manage a large volume of data and the timely exchange of accurate information

The PCPO Financial Coordinator will be responsible for essential financial services for PCPO - payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable and record keeping. Bookkeeping experience and/or a background in accounting or financial operations is needed. In addition, s/he should have a thorough understanding of cooperative preschools and how they operate.

S/he should relate well to people, be resourceful and capable of self-direction. With the exception of required meetings, the Financial Coordinator will work from a home office with internet access. A computer and Smart Phone are needed; PCPO may be able to assist with necessary technology. Transportation for Portland area meetings is necessary. Mileage will be reimbursed.

The Financial Coordinator works closely with other PCPO employees and PCPO Board volunteers, especially the Treasurer, to ensure all tasks necessary for transparent and complete financial records are accomplished in a timely manner.

START DATE: Negotiable, with a goal of starting late September or early October 2018.

HOURS:  The first contract will be from the starting date through June 30 for an average of 10 to 12 hours per week. The workload varies from month to month; it is typically lightest in December and summer.

COMPENSATION: Based on qualifications and experience, with an expected range of $16 to $17/hour. There are no medical or retirement benefits.
